Services for G.G. "Bud" McDowell set for Atlanta, Texas

G.G. “Bud” McDowell, a long time guest instructor at the annual Texas Engineering Extension Service Annual Texas Fire Training School, died Nov. 9. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at the Hanner Funeral Home in Atlanta, TX.
McDowell retired from the Brayton Fire Training School at Texas A&M University in College Station. He was a guest instructor with both the annual municipal and industrial schools for 18 years.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene McDowell of Atlanta, Texas; two sons, Jerry Don McDowell and wife Toni of Franklin, Texas, and Charles Gwen McDowell and wife Suzann of Fort Worth, Texas; three daughters, Jan Staublein and husband Dennis of Texarkana, Texas, Patricia Cook and husband Dennis of Atlanta, Texas, and Pamela Meyer and husband Randy of Tomball, Texas; three sisters, Frances Lee of Grandview, Texas, Patricia Dyer of Granbury, Texas, and Freida Carstarphen of Hurst, Texas.
He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. He was preceded in death by parents, Myrtle and Lonnie McDowell, and son, Gary Paul McDowell.
