Penton Publishing announces closing of Fire Chief magazine and website effective Nov. 22
As of Friday, Nov. 22, Fire Chief magazine will be no more. The following statement was issued to the magazine's editorial board and columnists on Wednesday.
"It is with a heavy heart that I write you that Penton
announced today the closing of its 57-year-old publication, Fire Chief," Fire Chief assistant publisher Janet Wilmoth. "The magazine, along with the website, will
end operations effective Friday, November 22, 2013. We understand the
suddenness of this announcement, and we would like to thank you for your
support over the years."
"Fire Chief has been privileged to be a part of the fire
industry for more than a half a century. While it is a difficult reality to
face, many factors contributed to its closing, including changes within the
publishing industry, the economy and the overall decline in ad revenue that
many publishers are facing."
"The Fire Chief staff is extremely proud of the
impact Fire Chief has had on the industry over the years," Wilmoth said. "We thank you for the opportunity to work with you and wish
you the very best."
