Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA, September 21, 2012 - Tyco Fire Protection Products, a business unit within Tyco, is breaking ground on a new operational facility in Port Arthur, Texas, USA. The new 70,000 square feet facility will be dedicated to supporting the Williams Fire & Hazard Control brand. The operations will house offices for administrative, engineering, and manufacturing functions supporting their portable and systems-based fire protection equipment and Williams' firefighting response team and training program.
The new facility will also include a state-of the-art classroom for an accredited educational program. There, fire response professionals can acquire ongoing Continuing Education Units (CEUs), product, and correlating safety trainings for the industrial market.
Founded in 1980, the Williams Fire & Hazard Control team delivers global land and marine-based fire response services to the Oil & Gas industry. Facing flammable liquids and gas fires in refineries, storage terminals, vessels at sea, gaswells and exploration platforms, the Williams Fire & Hazard Control group has developed unique firefighting tactics and specialty equipment to extinguish dangerous fire and explosion emergencies. Tyco acquired the Williams Fire & Hazard Control business in 2011.
Tyco will manufacture foam proportioning skids, large volume fire monitors and nozzles, transportable firewater pumps and other firefighting components at the new Port Arthur facility. This equipment is sold globally to Tyco clients who handle both raw and finished petroleum product exploration, refining, storage, transportation and marketing.
Steve Grisko, General Manager of Chemguard-Williams Operations, Tyco Fire Protection Products said, "The Williams Fire & Hazard Control group has generated great value and leadership over the last three decades, and is a terrific component of Tyco's global offering in the oil and gas industry. Our personnel there have a unique comprehension and set of skills for the market, thanks in part to our position in the Gulf South Energy corridor. The investment to build in Port Arthur gives us a pool of local, knowledgeable talent, and supports our Williams brand relationship with our clients."
